Step 1 — Identity Document

Accepted ID documents

Submit a clear image of any one of the following valid Nigerian government-issued identity documents. Both front and back photos are required.

National ID Card

NIMC-issued National Identification Card. Must show your NIN, full name, and photograph clearly.

INEC Permanent Voter's Card (PVC). Must clearly show your full name, photograph, and voter ID number.

Valid FRSC-issued driver's licence. Must not be expired. Both front and back images required.

Valid Nigerian international passport. Submit the data page clearly showing your photo, name, and passport number.

Not accepted: Student ID cards, work ID cards, birth certificates, utility bills, or any expired document. Submitting a non-accepted document will result in automatic rejection.
Step 2 — Selfie Photo

Taking the perfect selfie

Your selfie is compared against your ID document photo to confirm your identity. Follow these guidelines to avoid rejection.

Step 3 — Submit & Wait

What happens after you submit?

Once you submit your KYC, our admin team manually reviews your documents. Here is what to expect at each stage of the process.

Your documents are encrypted and queued for review. You will receive an in-app notification confirming receipt.
Under review (up to 24 hours)
Our team verifies document authenticity, checks for clarity, and compares your selfie to your ID photo.
Decision made
You are notified of the outcome — approved, rejected, or additional information requested — via in-app notification and email.
Access granted
Upon approval, your account is verified and you can immediately start browsing and unlocking female profiles.
Approved

Your identity has been verified. You now have full access to browse and unlock female profiles. No further action required.

Pending

Your submission is in the review queue. This typically takes up to 24 hours. Please do not resubmit while your application is pending.

Rejected

Your submission was rejected. Check the reason provided in the notification, correct the issue, and resubmit. Common reasons are listed in the FAQ below.

Tip: Make sure both front and back of your ID document are uploaded, and that all images are clear and unobstructed before submitting. This is the most common cause of rejection.

Our admin team typically reviews submissions within 24 hours. During peak periods, it may take slightly longer. You will receive an in-app notification and email as soon as a decision has been made. Please do not resubmit while your application is pending.

Common reasons for rejection include: blurry or low-quality document images, missing back-of-ID photo, selfie with obstructions (glasses, hat, poor lighting), expired document, or a mismatch between the selfie and the ID photo. Check the specific reason in your rejection notification and correct it before resubmitting.

No. Your identity documents and selfie are stored with encryption and are reviewed only by authorised Sure Ark administrators. They are never shared with other users, female profile holders, or any third party — except where required by Nigerian law. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Yes. After a rejection, you can correct the issue and resubmit through the app. Review the reason provided in your rejection notification carefully before resubmitting to avoid a second rejection. Repeated submissions with fraudulent documents will result in a permanent ban.

Your KYC verification is valid for as long as your Sure Ark account is active. You will not be asked to re-verify unless there is a specific reason (such as suspected account compromise or a regulatory requirement). KYC is a one-time process.

Submitting another person's identity document is identity fraud — a criminal offence under Nigerian law. Sure Ark will permanently ban the account, report the matter to relevant law enforcement authorities, and cooperate fully with any resulting investigation. Do not attempt this under any circumstances.
